Privacy Policy

Cat Lawyer · Effective date: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Android game Cat Lawyer (package com.catlawyer.bara, the “App”) and its game server at catlawyer.maxenergic.com (together, the “Service”) collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Service is provided by BA'RA – Max Energic Apps (“we”, “us”).

The short version: you don't need to sign in, and you can play offline without sharing anything. If you choose a display name (for the leaderboard or to submit a case), our server creates an anonymous player account — no email, no real name, no location. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no analytics SDKs. We do not sell your data. You can delete your account in the App at any time, or by emailing support@maxenergic.com.

1. Information we collect

Playing offline

The cases bundled with the App can be played without an internet connection. Your progress is stored only on your device, and nothing is sent to us.

Playing online

When your device is online, the App downloads cases from our server. Like any web server, ours receives your device's IP address with each request (see “Server logs” below). Downloading cases does not create an account.

If you choose a display name

To appear on the leaderboard or to submit a case in the Case Studio, you pick a display name. At that point our server creates an anonymous player account containing:

DataWhat it isWhy
Player IDA random identifier generated by our server. It is not linked to your Google account, phone number or device ID.To tell player accounts apart.
Secret tokenA random secret kept by the App on your device. Our server stores only a hash of it.To prove that requests come from your account, without a password.
Display nameThe name you choose. It is checked against a filter for inappropriate words.Shown on the leaderboard and on cases you write.
Case winsFor each case you win: the stars you earned and the time taken. To calculate your points and leaderboard rank.
PointsYour monthly and all-time score.Leaderboards.
Case ratingsThe 1–5 ratings you give to cases. To show average ratings and surface the best community cases.
ReportsCommunity cases you report as inappropriate.Moderation.
Cases you writeThe text content of cases you submit in the Case Studio (story, characters, dialogue, evidence), plus its review status and any moderator note.Moderation, and — once approved — publishing the case for everyone to play.

Please don't put personal information (yours or anyone else's) in your display name or in cases you write.

Server logs

Our server records technical request logs (IP address, time, requested path, response code). IP addresses are used transiently for rate limiting and abuse prevention, and appear in logs that are deleted after about 14 days. We do not use IP addresses to locate you or to build a profile.

Emails to support

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to answer you.

2. What we don't collect

3. How we use information

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions with legal or similar effects about you.

4. What is public

Your display name, rank and points are visible to other players on the leaderboards. Cases you write are shown to moderators, and once approved they are public: other players can play them and see your display name as the author, along with average ratings. Your player ID, token, individual ratings and reports are never shown to other players.

5. Sharing and selling

We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising services. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the Service.

6. Where data is stored and security

Data is stored on a server we operate. Connections between the App and the server are encrypted (HTTPS). Secret tokens are stored only as hashes, and access to moderation tools is restricted to authorised moderators. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Retention

8. Deleting your account and data

In the App: open the Leaderboard screen and choose “Delete my account”. Your account is deleted from our server straight away.

By email: if you can't use the App, email support@maxenergic.com with the subject “Cat Lawyer account deletion request” and your display name. We'll delete it within 30 days.

Deletion removes your player account, display name, points, case wins, ratings, reports and any submissions that have not been published. Published community cases stay live so other players can keep playing them, but they are credited to “a former player” instead of your name.

Uninstalling the App removes the data on your device but does not delete your server account.

9. Your choices and rights

Choosing a display name is optional: you can play every case without one. You can delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, or to object to processing. Contact us at support@maxenergic.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority.

10. Children

Cat Lawyer is a family-friendly game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App never asks for a real name, email or location, display names are filtered for inappropriate words, and community cases are reviewed by moderators before anyone can play them. There is no chat. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add features. We will post the new version here and change the effective date; significant changes will also be announced in the App or on Google Play.
